Artist Statement

          For a number of years, Vidya has been aware of the existence of many different levels of reality that exist beyond what meets the physical eye. Through dreams, meditation, and out-of-body travels, she visits these various dimensions, both within her herself and what she intuitively knows to be outside herself in the universe.
 

           Her intention in creating her “fabric paintings” is to remind viewers of the existence of these extraordinary, subtle and often hidden places and to create a portal though which they might be drawn into them. She invites people looking at her artwork to take a few moments to quietly gaze at a piece and simply see what happens inside of them. People often report a “felt response” or a sense of being pulled into the piece and its surreal world of feeling and sensation.
 

        Vidya knows no greater joy than living in the consciousness she settles into when she does her artwork. Losing all sense of time and space, she becomes the creator, the creation, and the process of creating, all at once. Slipping past her mind, she experiences the rich wholeness of life, the harmony of all its parts, and the profound joy that exists at the heart of all that is.
